Naturopathy

Aux Jardins de Beltainn - naturopathie animalière

Naturopathy is a term that brings together many techniques that all aim to allow the body, through natural methods, to regain its balance and optimal functioning.

Each technique falling within naturopathy offers its specific particularities, its strengths, reflecting the diversity of nature.

My sphere of naturopathic skills includes phytotherapy, aromatherapy, gemmotherapy, the use of floral elixirs as well as apitherapy, the use of clay, massages and the drainage of emunctories.

Below is a short summary explaining each technique and what it offers. For any additional questions, do not hesitate to contact me!

Phytotherapy

The use of plants dates back to the dawn of time. Man has always used plants for their nutritional value, their practical qualities (ropes, clothes, construction…) but also their benefits for the body and the mind. Each plant has a complex and unique blend of active substances, offering an extreme diversity of properties.

Herbal medicine uses the parts of each plant that contain the desired active substances to relieve targeted symptoms. It can be used in various forms, from fresh plant to powder, through herbal teas, decoctions and macerations, dry or liquid extracts and other Mother Tinctures.

Aromatherapy

To obtain an essential oil, the active ingredients of aromatic plants are collected by steam distillation to recover the liquid and concentrated form.

Essential oils are true condensates of active substances, they are fragrant and their complex compositions require specific knowledge, whether it is the choice of essential oil, its dosage or the duration of use, because some can exhibit toxicities even at low doses.

During the manufacturing process, one obtains as mentioned above, the essential oil but also the water which constituted the vapor allowing the distillation of the plant. This water is loaded with different active ingredients of the plant during the manufacturing process. It is called hydrosol.

Hydrosols have a milder action than essential oils and their properties may differ slightly. They have the advantage of being easier to use because their odor is less intense and exhibits no toxicity.

Gemmotherapy

This is the use of buds and young shoots, in other words the embryonic tissues of plants. These contain a concentrate of the active ingredients of the future plant.

It is used in the form of "glycerine macerate" which are then delivered to the animal in the form of drinkable drops.

This approach, which was already used in the Middle Ages, presents a lot of advantages: it is effective in very small doses, is very economical and is generally very well accepted by animals.

Apitherapy

The apitherapy is the use of bee products in naturopathic support. This is pollen, honey, royal jelly or propolis (I do not practice apipuncture and therefore do not use bee venom).

These products have been known for a long, long time. We know that the Egyptians were already using it.

Each product has its specific properties and benefits.

Floral Elixir

A floral elixir is obtained by maceration of flowers in water, in the sun. The elixir can be done with fresh flowers still on the plant / tree or with cut flowers; the flowers used can be wild or cultivated depending on whether it is an artisanal production or not.

This process comes to us from afar; long before Dr Bach and his wonderful discoveries. Indeed, this method has been passed down to us from ancient traditions where it is considered that the morning dew drops, deposited on the flowers and heated in the sun, had powerful properties.

Every day we face our own emotions. When these are experienced, they can generate imbalances that can maintain our health. Based on this premise, Dr. Bach, an English homeopathic physician from the beginning of the 20th century, created 38 flower essences based on his studies of various plants from the British countryside.

These essences make it possible to act in depth on our emotions and seek to work our "terrain", to balance it to allow us to eliminate the physical and psychic disharmonies.

Essences have the advantage of being easy to use for all animals.

They are used orally but can also be applied topically.

Clay

Each type of clay is a reflection of the natural environment in which it was formed, its characteristics and benefits therefore differ according to its origin.

This offers a variety of applications and possibilities of use.

In addition to the qualities of the various clays, is the added ease of application to animals.

Wellness Massage

Despite what one might think, animal massage has nothing in common with the caresses lavished on your animal. Its objective is the relaxation of the muscle groups worked to allow the whole body to relax and obtain significant benefit. Gestures, positions and touch are precise and the intention is clear.

The massage brings a real well-being for the animals in physical and / or psychic suffering. It promotes relaxation and activates blood and lymphatic circulation, improves body flexibility, facilitates recovery and contributes to restful sleep ...

Of course, when a pathology is diagnosed, the opinion of the veterinarian is necessary.

Drainage of Emunctories

Emunctories are the organs responsible for eliminating waste and toxins from the body. They are the same in animals as in humans and there are 5: liver, intestines, kidneys, lungs and skin. Day after day, these organs have, among other functions, the task of "cleaning" the body of toxins and other unwanted substances accumulated.

However, it happens that the body is called upon more than usual, sometimes at the limit of its physiological capacities (for example in the event of disease, lifestyle or diet that does not meet the needs of the animal ... ).

This is where the usefulness of drainage, which is carried out thanks to well-targeted plants, is revealed.

To be effective, drainage must be done over a certain period of time and be accompanied by some advice, in order to allow the plants to deploy their full effectiveness.
